Opened in June 2017, The Mad Hunter is an elegant Restaurant.
We are the perfect venue for your intimate event.
Myself and Ollie have known each other for a good few years. We worked together in the seafood pub company. The idea for The Mad Hunter is one we have both dreamed of since we were kids. Somewhere to go if you want something a little fancier, a really nice glass of a wine, amazing food and great hospitality.
In the evening The Mad Hunter transforms into a restaurant with low lit lights, candles, great wines, a range of gins, ever changing specials board for the adventurous and our evening menu.
We also have our chefs evening on the first Saturday of the month, which is fine dining at its best, a range of tasting dishes with wines to compliment each course.
Travis - Chef
I studied at the Fusion School of cookery in Durban, South Africa, where I got a diploma in global cuisine with distinctions. Worked at numerous fine dining restaurants in Durban.
I am well travelled, hence my wide range of cuisines. I moved to England in 2006 and have since worked as head chef at The Stork Inn. I also worked as head chef for the Seafood Pub Company and more recently at the Wagon and Horses in Lancaster.
My passion for food stems from my mother and gran, I grew up with them always cooking and baking. My favourite cuisines are anything Asian inspired as well as South American.
Oliver - Front of House
I remember telling my friends when I was young that my dream was to one day own my own restaurant. I've worked in the industry my whole working life, which is over a decade. I've worked my way up from pot washer to working in the kitchens and waiting on tables finally to become restaurant manager at several different establishments.
I was proprietor of The Finery, a food and wine speciality store, and I am now Front of House here at the The Mad Hunter.
Food and wine is a passion of mine, I specialise in wine pairing, gin cocktails and enjoy holding wine and gin tasting events.
